What Does A Manager Do?

What does a manager do? Folks, that list is long and needs some discussion. I am writing this as a very brief post on purpose. The reason will become evident when you read the following statement.

It is difficult to motivate people externally unless you know what motivates them internally. A manager’s job, first and foremost, is to not de-motivate their people.
